ZIMBABWE’s president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, yesterday announced a raft of measures to curtail the spread of coronavirus. This came after the country registered its first death. Among the measures were: the discouragement of travelling in and around Zimbabwe unnecessarily and banning of public gatherings of more than 50 people. While the new measures for mass transport (commuters) are set to be announced soon, a visit into the central business district by Zimobile indicate that the decision to delay might cost lives. While the president discouraged public gatherings of more than 50 people; the state run public transport buses-Zupco-are in another way promoting such “gatherings” as more than 50 passengers are allowed to queue or board a bus. For example, in a 75 seater bus, room is also created for standing passengers. Pics by Zimobile [24/3/2020]
